The Last Waltz, a concert by rock group The Band, was held on Thanksgiving in 1976. The Last Waltz Philly will celebrate the music of The Band's farewell show and bring the spirit of the legendary concert to the Trocadero for this very special benefit. Akin to The Last Waltz, the Thanksgiving weekend tribute concert will feature a core band with more than a dozen special guests. And much like the original concert's elaborate pre-show affair, The Last Waltz Philly will include a pre-show acoustic set, meet and greet and open bar.
"We are dividing the proceeds between four local organizations in an effort to be inclusive and comprehensive," explains co-producer Andrew Lipke. "We know the problems plaguing the Philadelphia school system are complex and numerous, and we feel money raised from this event will be most effective if it's given to a few select groups working on the solutions from different angles."
