David Uosikkinen of the Hooters and his band, In The Pocket will rock the 23 East (23 East Lancaster Ave; 610 649-8389) on Friday, May 31st to celebrate the release of their new CD, David Uosikkinen's In The Pocket Live. Recorded at the Colonial Theatre in January of 2013, Live features 11 live tracks and three bonus tracks. The show at the 23 East will feature Uosikkinen's revolving lineup of Philadelphia's most celebrated musicians. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door, or $45 for VIP tickets (includes 7:00pm buffet dinner and meet & greet with band members). Doors open at 8:00pm. Showtime is 9:00pm.

With In The Pocket, The Hooters' David Uosikkinen revisits songs that were either recorded in Philadelphia or written and performed by Philadelphians. These essential songs feature a rotating line up of Philly's most celebrated musicians. Songs are available for download at songsinthepocket.org. A video documentary by award winning producer/director Steve Acito accompanies each single. Acito's long-form documentary of David Uosikkinen's In The Pocket was recently nominated for an Emmy award.
A portion of the proceeds benefit Philadelphia's Settlement Music School. With six branches in PA and NJ, it is the largest community school of the arts in the United States serving 15,000 students each year regardless of age, race, or financial means. Settlement Music School's alumni includes some of Philadelphia's most beloved residents including Kevin and Michael Bacon, Chubby Checker, Stanley Clark, Kevin Eubanks, Buddy Greco, G. Love and Frank Rizzo.
