Robert Gordon, he of the big hair and big voice, comes to Philadelphia on Thursday June 26 to play a rare and intimate show at The Tin Angel. His new CD I’M COMING HOME will be released on the locally based (Lancaster, Pa.) Lanark Records just days prior to his area appearance.
RG (as his friends call him) has had a knack for joining up with great guitarists throughout his career. From his days with Link Wray and later Danny Gatton, to his recent work with Marshall Crenshaw and current guitarist and record co-producer Quentin Jones, Robert has “always had music on his mind and in his sights.” That is evidenced in this new record, his first since 2007. I’M COMING HOME features twelve all new recordings including three originals.
Rounding out the performing band will be Kenny Aaronson on bass (Bob Dylan/John Eddie), David Uosikkinen on drums (The Hooters/In the Pocket) and Quentin Jones on guitar (Charlie Gracie). Expect an evening filled with fan favorites such as “Red Hot” and “Rockabilly Boogie” and plenty of sampling from the new record.
Tickets are $12 and available at The Tin Angel with showtime set for 8PM. Slip into your black slacks and red bowtie and get ready for the room to rock! See you there!
