It was 11 years ago today (11/29) that we lost George Harrison. I remember getting an early AM phone call from my boss telling me that George had died. Since I would be broadcasting from the Rock Art Show that day, he wanted me to turn my entire show into a remembrance of and tribute to George. I had guests slated to join me that day including Eric Bazilian of The Hooters and Little Steven Van Zandt and it was a VERY emotional but ultimately exhilarating experience. Eric spoke of how he, like so many boys of the 60's, picked up a guitar after seeing The Beatles on Ed Sullivan. He picked up his guitar and played a bit of "Something." Little Steven stayed with me for a solid 3 hours as he chose George's music to be played. He scribbled ideas and notes on a brown paper bag (how I wish I still had that bag! I think it got thrown out with our lunch). Here's a snippet of what Steven had to say about George's influence musically, culturally and globally.
