CANNED GOODS TIP: DON'T FORGET THE KIDS!

Posted 8/11/2010 5:51:00 PM
If you're getting ready to shop, or clean out your pantry for this weekend's food donations we'll be taking at the Wachovia/Wells Fargo Center, don't forget to bring food for kids.

Sadly, children make up a huge percentage of the area's hungry, so they need your help now more than ever.

Things to bring include cereal, boxes of macaroni and cheese and snacks.

Thanks so much for your donations this weekend!  I look forward to seeing you at "Camp McCartney" at our RV/Broadcast setup.  We're right by Fan Gear on the Broad Street side.

HUNGER IN THE DELAWARE VALLEY

Posted 8/2/2010 4:44:00 PM
As you may have heard, I will be living in an RV at The Wells Fargo/Wachovia Center, right by the Fan Gear shop, Saturday afternoon through Sunday night, August 14 and 15, for the Paul McCartney shows.

I'll be there for the sole purpose of collecting canned and non-perishable food for the people of Philabundance who, in turn, distribute this food to the hungry people of the Delaware Valley.

So, why donate?

Aside from the fact that it feels good to give to someone who needs help, here are some hard facts about hunger in the Delaware Valley:

1.  Over 35% of Philadelphians struggled below the poverty line - up from 24.5 percent in 2005. That rate continues to be the highest among the 10 biggest U.S. cities.

2.  Philadelphia has one of the highest child poverty rates in the US, with 1 child out of 3 living at or ...

CAMP MCCARTNEY RETURNS!!

Posted 7/28/2010 6:31:00 PM
Back in 2005, the last time Paul McCartney played in Philadelphia, I camped out in the parking lot of the Wachovia Center for two and a half days, and collected canned and non-perishable goods for Philabundance, the local food bank.  Macca fans from all over the area generously donated TONS of food!!  We turned into a pre- and post-show party both nights.  It was a blast and, thanks to your kindness, we fed a lot of hungry people.

Well, I'm doing it again!!

If you're going to either (or both) of the Paul McCartney shows at the Wachovia/Wells Fargo Center on August 14 or 15, look for me holed up in my RV.  That's where I'll once again collect your canned or non-perishable food donations for Philabundance.  This summer, donations are down substantially at the food bank, and they need your help more than ever.  All it takes is ...
