An ultimatum from one Kinks brother to another? THERE'S something new.
Ray Davies has thrown down the gauntlet again in his long difficult relationship with his brother, Kinks guitarist Dave Davies, this time over long-discussed reunion plans for the group.
Ray Davies tells Mojo that he and original drummer Mick Avory have been working on new music, with plans to tour as well. He adds that, "Dave's invited to the party -- but if he doesn't want to do it, it will happen anyway. He's very welcome to turn up if he wants. I'd much rather work with him than without him...If somebody can't or won't play, there are other players out there. Mick and I want to do it."
Dave Davies suffered a stroke in June of 2004 but began playing music again two years later. The last Kinks album, "Phobia," came out in 1993.
