Just a day after adding more dates to its upcoming North American tour with Jeff Beck, ZZ Top has delayed its start by two weeks so bassist Dusty Hill can recuperate from surgery.
In a statement, the group said that Hill "is slated to undergo surgery to remove two kidney stones this week, necessitating a delay in the start of the group's US summer tour. The kidney stones were discovered in the course of a routine physical examination where Hill's doctors advised him that they should immediately be removed, lest they cause more serious problems down the line."
The tour's first six shows, starting July 25 in Morton, Minn., have been postponed and the trek now begins August 8 in Missoula, Mont.
Meanwhile, ZZ Top's new compilation "The Very Baddest" hits stores today (July 22), as does the DVD and Blu-Ray "Live in Montreux 2013."
