Conflicting reports were released July 23, 2001 regarding Beatle George Harrison''s battle with cancer. Music producer Sir George Martin was quoted as saying that Harrison expects to die soon from his illnesses. The 58-year-old musician underwent treatment for a brain tumor at a clinic in Switzerland, and had surgery earlier this year for lung cancer.
The Beatles
may be coming back to TV -- this time for a mini-series on NBC.

Though not confirmed, it's being widely reported that the network has green-lighted the eight-episode project, which will be helmed by the creative team behind Showtime's "The Tudors" -- Michael Hirst, who will write the scripts, Ben Silverman and Teri Weinberg.

No production or air dates have been announced yet, and it's not known whether this will be sanctioned by the Beatles and its Apple Corps business wing. Stay tuned, in other words.

...Meanwhile, the Beatles are reportedly planning to release mono vinyl versions of its catalog on September 9, according to new listings on Amazon.com. The titles will be available individually and in a 15-disc box set, with non-album tracks compiled on the three-disc "Mono Masters."
