Peter Wolf is currently on the road -- not with the J. Geils Band but playing stripped-down solo shows featuring songs from his 2010 album "Midnight Souvenirs" as well as his other solo releases and even some Geils material.
But the Wolfa Goofa promises us that Geils is still very much alive, explaining that, "Every couple of years we like to go out there and do it. We never call it reunions; we just, for whatever reason, get together. The last time was the Boston Strong concert (in May of 2013) to raise money for the Marathon victims. So maybe this fall we'll do something. I don't know; I never know, really. Right now I'm just focusing on getting on the highways and byways with the show I'm doing now."
Last year the group was in a legal battle with guitarist John "J." Geils, who stopped touring with the band a few years ago, over rights to use the J. Geils Band name. Wolf says the matter has been settled and allows himself, keyboardist Seth Justman, bassist Danny Klein and harmonica player "Magic" Dick Salwitz to tour under the moniker. Wolf plays his next solo shows Sunday and Monday (May 4-5) at the Ark in Ann Arbor, Mich.
