Pat Benatar and husband/musical partner Neil Giraldo are spending most of the first part of their 35th Anniversary Tour opening shows for Cher.
The duo, which is celebrating 35 years since a) meeting and b) recording their platinum debut album "In the Heat of the Night," is doing 14 shows with Cher, wrapping up June 29 in Raleigh, N.C. It's the first time the couple has ever shared a stage with the pop diva and Academy Award-winning actress, but Benatar tells us they do have a social relationship with Cher:
"We know each other because we live in the same town. Our daughter dated her godson for two years, and we've just been kinda like neighbors for a long time, so we know each other casually like that, school and everything -- not the hang thing, but we've been having a lot of fun this trip, so it's been good."
Benatar and Girlado are also playing their own shows and begin a tour with Rick Springfield on July 5 in Atlantic City. Benatar and Giraldo are working on a pair of Christmas albums as well as new material, though no release dates have yet been determined.
