Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen and the Rolling Stones Among Highest-Grossing Tours of 2013

After earning top touring honors from Billboard, Bon Jovi's Because We Can: The Tour has been named the top-grossing road trip of the year by Pollstar magazine.

The trade publication says the New Jersey group raked in $259.5 million, well ahead of Beyonce’s $188.6 million.

A great deal of that income came from playing in Europe and Australia, and Jon Bon Jovi told us about the group's appeal away from home:

"I think that we are so representative of American pop culture the world over. That's sort of who and what we are...The Australian promoters went out of their way to tell me that...It's just representative of who and what we are. It's Americana."

Fellow Garden Staters Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band ranked fifth with $145.4 million. The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney were also in Pollstar's Top 20.

The magazine said the Top 20 acts' 2013 revenues totaled a new record $2.43 billion, up 24 percent from 2012.
