Ace Frehley Won’t Perform in Same Makeup as Tommy Thayer at Rock Hall Reunion

Though KISS’s upcoming induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should be a source of joy for the longtime rockers, it wouldn’t be a rock ‘n’ roll reunion without a little drama.

Ex-KISS guitarist Ace Frehley went on record with a New York radio about the plans for their Hall of Fame performance, Blabbermouth reports.

Though he left the band more than a decade ago, Frehley is open to taking the stage with fellow KISS co-founders Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons and Peter Criss.

“I know for a fact that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame wants the four of us to perform in makeup,” he said. “That’s what they want, and we’ll see how it plays out. I’m hoping that everybody’s just gonna do the right thing and celebrate the four original members who started it all.”

Since Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer have been with KISS for years, Frehley says he has no problem with them taking part in the performance – as long as they don’t wear the band’s iconic makeup.

“You can’t have me and Tommy both in makeup. You can’t have Eric and Peter both in makeup. That’s gonna be a farce,” he said (via Blabbermouth). “So hopefully the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will talk some sense into those guys [Paul and Gene] as far as that aspect of the show. Believe it or not, I have faith in those guys.”

Either way, there isn’t much time for this tension to be sorted out, as the ceremony is set for April 10, 2014.

Along with KISS, the other 2014 inductees include Cat Stevens, Nirvana, Daryl Hall and John Oates, Peter Gabriel and Linda Ronstadt.
