8/5 National Night Out

Communities throughout Gloucester Township will be participating in the National Night Out program on Tuesday, August 5, 2014. Neighbors, family, and friends will be gathering at their homes, on their streets, and at their local community centers in recognition of their support of the community. National Night Out helps strengthen community support and our police partnership with you and your neighbors. Residents and communities that participate in National Night Out send a message that they are organized and not willing to stand for criminal activity occurring in their neighborhood.

The National Night Out events consists of neighbors meeting on their front lawns, organized block parties of several neighbors occurring on a closed street, or a full neighborhood events at a local community center. Whether it is just a few neighbors meeting in front of their homes or an entire community coming together, the outcome of a stronger community is the same.

There will be approximately 25 separate locations hosting National Night Out Events in Gloucester Township.  Thousands of residents will be participating and showing a strong partnership with the Gloucester Township Police Department.  Several of the larger event locations are in our Glen Oaks Development and The Shoppes at Cross Keys.  Both events will have various entertainment for children as well as adults.

The Glen Oaks Event will be hosting a Chinese auction.  The auction proceeds will be donated to the Gloucester Township Field of Dreams Project.  The Field of Dreams will provide children and adults with disabilities the opportunity to play and participate in baseball.

Street Tails Animal Rescue (STAR) has been a foster-based rescue for well over a decade, initially operating out of The Chic Petique and run by owner/founder Lindsay Condefer. STAR has been pulling dogs out of the city shelters for a decade, many of whom were/are in need of medical attention that they could not get at the crowded city shelter.

STAR's mission is to help the homeless, and unwanted animals within the local, Philadelphia area by helping them receive proper medical attention, educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering, and by placing these animals in suitable, compatible, and most of all, loving homes

At the Yappy Hour, two legged guests can sip on an array of cocktails from a cash bar including the Pup-tini and the Cosbow-wow-politan, while enjoying complimentary appetizers. Dogs will have their own yappatizer buffet that includes items from the Loews Loves Pets menu, featuring house made cuisine for dogs using fresh, healthy ingredients.
