Like a lot of people who like to watch golf, I love watching them play at TPC Sawgrass. You can enjoy, and salivate, over the course while you take in the pros doing their thing. For most of the weekend, the course was the star. Tiger made a move on Saturday, and made the final pair on Sunday, playing with Alex Cjeka, who is the best golfer ever to come from Czech Republ ic, in case you didn’t watch for five minutes on the weekend. Despite the NBC team’s carping about that fact, isn’t Cjeka the only prominent golfer from a country more known for its Olympic gymnast output?
So, Cjeka goes -10 to lead going into the weekend, dipping to -11 before imploding, and sliding down the leader board. Meanwhile, his playing partner, Woods, continues to miss putts by micro-margins, plays +3 and also fades. Watching Woods sweat it out down the stretch, I saw a player who knows he is close to top-of-the-world form, but is just as agonizingly frustrated by the game as most of are. Lip-readers got an eyeful all weekend, as Tiger’s temper boiled over at times. Good to know he is human and all, but don’t you just want to see him reel off a masterful weekend?
Henrik Stenson stormed out of the pack down the stretch for the win on Mother’s Day!!!
I won’t be watching this coming weekend. Glenn, Wiz, Doc and I are wheeling to Ocean City, Maryland for some primo golf at three tracks; The Links At Lighthouse Sound, Rum Pointe, and Ocean City Golf Club. I can’t tell you just how valuable www.oceancitygolf.com was in planning our weekend getaway. All of the courses are listed, including special deals, and pictures, details and more to help you plan your golf vacation. Their Trip Planner also helps you square other things, including accommodations and restaurants. If you’re going to OC for a summer vacation, include a round or two. Make your plan now! I’ll update you next week on our excursion.
