The plan has been made!!! Last week I was talking with Mike Cleery from Ocean City Golf Getaways about my crew’s golf getaway to OC, MD. I went to www.oceancitygolf.com and used the course info, and their trip planner, to put together a mid-May weekend in Ocean City, Maryland for three of my regular partners, and myself. May 17th and 18th, we’ll play at The Links at Lighthouse Sound, Rum Pointe, and Ocean City Golf Club. With our hotel, The Clarion Fontainebleau Hotel situated in the middle of OC, our Saturday round takes to The Links just off the top of the island. We chose this course for its open links-style golf right on the water. Both Doc and Wiz say I will get a kick out of this track. More like a kick in the head! On Sunday, we play the other two courses, Rum Pointe, a Pete & P.B. Dye design, for more seaside links action, and Ocean City’s Newport Bay course. Both are at the bottom of the island, and close enough to allow a nice lunch nearby (Wiz has the spot for good eats mapped out) between rounds.
Glenn’s coming in from Carolina, so we picked a late Saturday tee-time, which allows a nice night out for food and adult beverages. Being Mr. Bad Golfer, I’ve never ventured out for an outing like this one, so I am really looking forward to it. With all the wind and water, I just hope I don’t lose a case of balls…
